Life in Nir Yitzhak
Oren was born in Nir Yitzhak in 1989 and grew up with siblings Rani and Shai. He studied photography at school, then worked in the kibbutz garage and became its manager. He married Oshrit in 2019; their twins Aviv and Ilay were born in August 2021. He cycled with the local “Smurfs” group and took part in the kibbutz singing group and community life.

October 7
Oren was serving on Nir Yitzhak’s emergency team. When smoke rose at the gate beside his home, he went to investigate and defend the kibbutz. KAN’s minute-by-minute account says he entered an ambush and was shot; team members later found him dead.

Taken after death
Oren was killed in the fighting. Later that day, attackers took his body to Gaza. His death was confirmed later; his body remained in Gaza until the recovery operation in July 2024.

Return and burial
Israeli forces recovered Oren’s body on July 24, 2024, during an operation in Khan Younis. His family completed the burial in Nir Yitzhak on July 28.

Remembered at home
Oren was buried in the kibbutz where he was born and raised. His brother Rani recalled a picnic with the children and friends shortly before the attack, when Oren brought a coffee set and shared the day with family.
