01
Life before October 7
Omri Miran lived in Kibbutz Nahal Oz with his wife Lishay and daughters Roni and Alma. He worked as a shiatsu therapist and gardener. His father Dani described Omri’s routine with Roni: making oatmeal in the morning, eating together, taking her to kindergarten and walking with her around the kibbutz afterward. His community remembered him as a caring father, husband, son and brother.

October 7
On October 7, 2023, Omri, Lishay, Roni and Alma sheltered in their safe room. Attackers forced a neighbor to call on them to open the door, threatening to shoot him and then the family. The Mirans were taken to the Idan family’s home, where the attackers livestreamed events from Gali Idan’s phone. That afternoon, Omri and Tsachi Idan were abducted to Gaza, along with Judith and Natalie Raanan. Lishay and the girls remained behind.

In captivity
After Omri’s return, his brother said he had been moved between 23 places, including apartments and tunnels. Family members described a period when five captives had to crouch in a very small space. Omri sometimes cooked for himself and the people guarding him, choosing spices when asked.

Life after return
On October 24, 2025, in his first statement after release, Omri said he was back in Israel and back to life. He described imagining time with his daughters while he was away. He thanked people who had worked for the hostages’ return and said he wanted to continue until everyone was home.
