01

Work and family

Eitan lived in Bat Yam and worked as a taxi driver. Earlier he spent years in Africa managing heavy equipment for an Israeli construction company, returning every few months to see Shahar. A work accident brought him back to Israel in 2016; later he drove a cab and provided roadside assistance. His former wife and her partner remained close family. He treated their three children as his own, loved animals and adopted two dogs.

02

The drive to Be’eri

On October 7, Eitan left Bat Yam early to take a passenger to Kibbutz Be’eri. After dropping her off, he called his son while driving back toward central Israel and reported rocket fire. His family heard him cry out as attackers seized his taxi near Mefalsim; gunfire and Arabic voices followed. The phone remained connected for a time, but Eitan did not return.

03

His body held in Gaza

Eitan was killed on October 7, and his body was taken to Gaza. His family was informed of his death in December 2023. In August 2024, the family released footage showing his body had been taken into Gaza after he was killed; the reports describe his body in captivity, not a living captivity account.

04

Return and identification

Eitan’s body was transferred from Gaza to Israel on October 14, 2025. Forensic experts identified him at Abu Kabir and the family was notified the next morning. The return made burial possible after more than two years.

05

A family remembered

Eitan was buried in the Holon–Bat Yam cemetery on October 16, 2025. His son Shahar and family remembered someone who came to help, joined Friday meals and outings, and welcomed the younger children in the household as his own.
