01

Life before October 7

Dror was born and raised in Kibbutz Re’im. He studied at Tadmor Culinary School and cooked in Tel Aviv restaurants, including Suzana. After marrying Yonat, who had grown up in Be’eri, they made her kibbutz their home. Dror worked at Be’eri’s printing house before joining the dairy in 2009. He studied cheesemaking in Italy and France, ran a dairy catering business, and became the dairy’s principal cheesemaker. He also traveled, played basketball, and practiced yoga for twenty years before becoming a certified instructor. Before October 7, he and colleague Dagan Peleg discussed new equipment and bringing in another partner to expand the dairy.

October 7

On October 7, Dror, Yonat, and their younger children Noam and Alma sheltered in their reinforced room; their eldest child, Yahli, was away. Attackers set fire to the house. Dror and Yonat sent Noam and Alma out through a window before leaving the room. The family was separated in the attack: Yonat and Dror were killed, while Noam and Alma were abducted to Gaza.

03

After October 7

Noam and Alma were released from Gaza on November 25, 2023. At that time Dror’s fate was unknown. On May 2, 2024, Kibbutz Be’eri announced that Dror had been killed on October 7 and that his body had been taken to Gaza. His family held shiva, but his remains had not yet been returned for burial.
