The story
Suliman Abo Ganem was born in Lod on 25 February 2000, the son of Aziza and Salman and the brother of Khaled, Saleh, Diab, Adam, Waad, and Amir. He attended Al-Zahra School and Tomashin High School in the city and began working after finishing his studies. He was regarded as a good and dedicated student. His family was at the center of his life. As a child, he helped at home, and later he remained close to his mother and brothers. At twenty-three, he moved with his family to Ramla.
His father said in an interview that he encouraged him to choose service in the IDF and that Suliman wore his uniform with pride. He shared his love of motorsport with his father, who taught him and nurtured his interest. Even when he lived in an army-provided apartment in Rishon LeZion, he returned to his mother on leave and spent much of his time at home. Her meals, including the beans and stuffed dishes he loved, maintained his connection to the family life that had accompanied him since childhood.
On 9 May 2024, he enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to the Desert Reconnaissance Battalion. After training, he fought in the Gaza Strip, mainly in Rafah. Articles about his life described him as a soldier held in high regard by his commanders and comrades, who was selected to attend a squad commanders' course. He wanted to develop in his service and saw his commander as someone to follow. Even amid the fighting, he encouraged and strengthened his teammates, and his bond with them was an important part of his world.
On 3 June 2025, while leaving for a period of leave, he was killed in a road accident on his way home. He was twenty-five and was laid to rest in Ramla. His father said that his fellow soldiers came to the funeral to pay their respects. Lod Mayor Yair Revivo expressed the city's grief for a son of the city and for his service, and promised to work to commemorate him. Suliman left behind his parents and brothers, and memories of the family bonds and comradeship that endured throughout his life. May his memory be a blessing.
