The story
Shimon Tubol was born on 25 February 2003 to Rivka and Rafael and grew up in Tel Zion in a Haredi family. He had nine siblings and kept especially close ties with his younger sisters. His family knew him as a quiet, reserved person whose presence was felt at home and for whom honoring his parents mattered deeply. As a child he attended the HaMesila Talmud Torah, later moving to a yeshiva in Jerusalem. Even when he went out to work, he was described as someone who fulfilled his responsibilities seriously and conscientiously.
After a period of work, Shimon returned to his studies, learning ritual slaughter at the Binyan Olam Yeshiva in Tel Zion and graduating with distinction. He later studied at yeshivas in Jerusalem and Beit She'an. During his holidays he enjoyed traveling with friends, visiting springs and swimming. At home he helped with everyday tasks and also tried his hand at painting and installing shelves. Alongside his studies, he remained close to his family and to the friends with whom he spent his free time.
Following the outbreak of the war, he chose to enlist. He initially served in Netzah Yehuda and later transferred to the Hasmonean Brigade. An operation he underwent prevented him from completing his initial basic training. He was assigned to a company commander's command group and served as his personal driver. Articles published after his death described his dedication and his relationships with those around him. His friend Yedidya Boskovitz remembered his kindness, the smile he brought with him, and the love with which he carried out his service. Shimon was the first fallen soldier of the new brigade, established to enable Haredi soldiers to serve.
On 30 April 2025, Shimon was killed in a road accident on Route 457, near Ma'ale Mikhmas, while on leave from the army. The news of his death left his family and friends in mourning. He was twenty-two when he died. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Mabu'im and was survived by his parents, three brothers and six sisters. After his death, he was promoted from corporal to sergeant. May his memory be a blessing.
