The story
Shaike, Yeshayahu Nisan, Megiddo was born on 17 March 1971, son of Esther and Amishadai. He lived in Psagot, was a family man and served as a reserve intelligence officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel. The memorial page of the Israel Intelligence Heritage and Commemoration Center records the details of his life and family: he was survived by his widow, two daughters and four sons, his father, a sister and three brothers. His family described him as a man whose life centered on family, love of the land and giving.
Throughout his military service, Shaike held intelligence positions in field units, both in regular service and in the reserves. According to Arutz 7, he took part in the operations of maneuvering units in various arenas, from southern Israel to the north, and reserve service occupied a greater part of his life after the outbreak of the Swords of Iron war. His civilian work was connected to intelligence in the Israel Prison Service. Over the years, his military service and intelligence work outside the army were thus woven together.
Alongside his service and work, Shaike devoted time to his community. He volunteered in key roles in Psagot and the Binyamin Regional Council, and during the coronavirus pandemic held a management role in the council's coronavirus response unit. The council noted his contribution to managing emergency systems. He also founded a charitable initiative that distributed dozens of food parcels to families in need every week. His family's words about kindness and generosity also rested on this ongoing work among families in the community.
During reserve service, Shaike developed a severe bacterial infection and was hospitalized. His condition deteriorated, and he died on 17 Tammuz 5786, 2 July 2026, at the age of fifty-five. After his death, his family decided to donate his organs to save lives. The next day, he was laid to rest in the cemetery in Psagot. His name was recorded on Izkor and in the intelligence community's memorial project alongside his parents' names and the date of his death. His family bade farewell to a man of kindness, and the accounts of his life documented his service, volunteering and care for families in need. May his memory be a blessing.
