The story

Nir Doron Avraham was born on 9 October 1990, the eldest son of Hadassah and Shalom and the brother of Dolev, Tomer, and Eliraz. He grew up in Givat Washington, studied in Kvutzat Yavne, and later attended Beit Shlomo High School in Rehovot. As a child and teenager, he loved basketball, football, swimming, and hiking. He remained a Beitar Jerusalem supporter throughout his life, watching matches at home and in the stadium. From an early age, he volunteered with the Hasdei Irit charity, first preparing food parcels and later also delivering them to families.

During his IDF service, he was a combat soldier in the Nahal Brigade and received a commendation from the brigade commander. After his discharge, he was assigned to reserve service in the Yoav Battalion. His friends also knew him by the nickname Basbus, because of the sweets he used to keep in his pockets and share with those around him. He later worked as a driver and warehouse worker. In 2017, he married Nofar, whom he had met through a relative, and they had Amalia, Emanuel, and Adiel. Nofar described a cheerful, optimistic person, devoted to his home and work, always willing to volunteer and give to others.

On 7 October 2023, he was called up for reserve duty and served in the Gaza border region and later inside the Strip. On 29 December, he suffered injuries to his ears and needed treatment. Even when he could no longer continue fighting alongside his comrades, he made sure to send them treats. In an interview, Nofar spoke about coping with his hearing injury and his attempts at rehabilitation, and about moments of silence and withdrawal that she understood differently in hindsight. His official life story describes the emotional hardship he carried after his wartime service.

Nir died after his service on 11 Nisan 5784, 19 April 2024, at the age of thirty-three. He was buried in Gan Yavne and left behind Nofar and their three children, his parents, and his brothers and sister. His family produced stickers in his memory about giving, and fans and acquaintances wrote about him on Beitar Jerusalem's memorial page. Nofar continues to pass on his character and memory to their children; when speaking about their lives, she sought to draw attention to families and to people who returned from battle carrying pain. May his memory be a blessing.
