The story

Mosa Hwashla was born on 12 January 2002, the son of Hadas and Muhammad, and grew up in Al Hwashla in the Neve Midbar Regional Council in the Negev. He attended elementary school and high school in the village and loved playing football with friends in his free time. His father said that from an early age, he looked after his younger siblings and was someone others could rely on. Even when one of them was ill, his father knew that Mosa would take the child to the doctor and see to whatever was needed.

He met Doaa while they were still at school. They married on 18 December 2021, while Mosa was doing his regular military service. They named their son Muhammad, after Mosa's father. Family members described a husband and father who put his family first, respected his elders, and stayed close to his grandmother. He loved bringing her cakes and spending time with her. His relatives also remembered his humor and his ability to ease tensions and bring people together.

After high school, Mosa enlisted in the IDF and served as a driver in the Logistics Corps' Transport Center. After his discharge, he worked as a security guard at a factory. When the war broke out, he volunteered for reserve duty, transporting heavy equipment to forces fighting in the Gaza Strip. He later moved to the northern front, where he transported tanks and heavy equipment. During the war, he and Doaa learned that they were expecting a daughter, and he chose the name Malak for her.

In early February 2024, Mosa went on a short leave. Ahead of an operational mission in the south, he decided to return to base on Saturday evening so that he would not be late on Sunday. A relative drove him, and later in the journey, a road accident occurred in which he was killed. Staff Sergeant Mosa Hwashla fell during his service on 3 February 2024, aged twenty-two. He was buried in Abu Qrenat and left behind his wife, a son, his parents, and his brothers and sisters. Five months after his death, his daughter Malak was born, bearing the name he had chosen during his lifetime. May his memory be a blessing.

Even when one of the siblings was ill and I was at work, if Musa was home, I would not worry.
