The story
Hasan Heib was born on 26 November 2005 in Rumat Heib, the son of Lubna and Kamel and one of six siblings. He grew up in the village in the Beit Netofa Valley and attended its local schools. His life story on the Izkor website describes him as a curious, diligent student who dreamed of studying veterinary medicine. Alongside his studies, he was sociable, well known in the village, and surrounded by friends; he loved visiting their homes and going out with them.
After finishing high school, a few months before the war broke out, Hasan was preparing to enlist. His father suggested that he learn to drive a truck so that he could serve as a transport driver, but Hasan wanted to be a combat soldier. He enrolled in a pre-military academy for Bedouin combat recruits, combining preparation for service with personal and group development and the fostering of leadership and social responsibility. That decision brought him into a program where he prepared for the service he had chosen, alongside other students preparing to enlist.
From the beginning of his time at the academy, he stood out for his determination, self-discipline, and desire to progress. Alongside his own efforts, he earned his peers' trust and became a source of support for them. His instructor, Shiran, remembered his quiet leadership, his presence, and the values he brought with him. On 9 May 2024, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Border Defense Corps. After training, he was assigned to the Menashe Regional Brigade, integrated professionally and socially, and earned his commanders' esteem. His life story recounts that he sometimes chose to forgo leave to take part in his unit's activities.
Sergeant Hasan Heib fell in the line of duty during the war on 16 December 2025, aged twenty. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Arab al-Heib and left behind his parents and five siblings. His instructor from the academy eulogized him, describing the privilege of preparing him for meaningful service and the mark he left. His memory is also commemorated on the website of the association for the advancement of discharged Bedouin soldiers and officers, alongside others from the community who fell. May his memory be a blessing.
