The story
Eliran Nadler was born in Nahariya on 19 February 2003, the eldest son of Esther and Yitzhak and brother to Sagi, Naor and Elinor. He grew up and was educated in the city, attending Golda Meir Elementary School and Nofar Junior High School before transferring in ninth grade to the Naval Officers School in Acre. He graduated with honors. His family was the center of his life, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his younger sister and nurturing his ties with his extended family.
After his studies, he enlisted in the Israeli Navy and served as a naval combat soldier. He initially served as an armorer aboard the missile ship INS Oz, later returning to career service and serving as kitchen sergeant major aboard INS Atzmaut. The President’s Office website describes how he made the kitchen a place that gave his crewmates a sense of home even at sea. He cooked, made sure equipment and food were provided, took an interest in the soldiers who came in and brought personal attention to each individual into his work.
Alongside his service, he loved music and taught himself to play the guitar. He was a devoted Maccabi Haifa fan and dreamed of working in football as an analyst. In April 2025, after leaving career service, he enlisted in the reserves and served aboard INS Magen. Eliran fell during his service on 21 June 2025, 25 Sivan 5785. He was twenty-two when he died. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahariya and is survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
His family and loved ones commemorate him with stickers bearing a saying he used about standing by others, smiling and persevering to the end. The President’s Office website also displays a traveler’s prayer with his photograph. His name was among the Maccabi Haifa fans remembered at the club’s memorial ceremony marking two years since 7 October. These forms of remembrance preserve his connection to his family, his friends, the sea, music and football, and the warmth he gave to those around him. May his memory be a blessing.
