The story

David Biton, son of Shira Brizit and Shimon and brother to Tzipora, Amit and Noa, was born on 16 April 2000 and grew up in Moshav Avivim. His memorial page describes his love of dancing, laughing, traveling and spending time in nature. Family and home were central to his life; he looked after his siblings and wanted everyone to be well. He attended the Amichai and Hemed elementary schools and later Anne Frank High School in Kibbutz Sasa, where he formed friendships that continued after graduation.

His teachers remembered his smile, his ability to make people laugh and his willingness to help others. Ruth Griva, his high school homeroom teacher, recalled how an initial telephone call before the school year quickly became a warm, open encounter. Orly Gal, who taught him and held a leadership role at the school, described discovering his literary insights and his ability to express his thoughts in writing and speech. The memories his teachers published portray a young man who formed personal connections with those who studied and taught alongside him.

In November 2018, David enlisted in the Golani Brigade and served in Company A of Battalion 13. After his service, he traveled the world and tried surfing and snowboarding. On 7 October 2023, he reported for reserve duty. According to his memorial page, he served along the Lebanese border during the first months of the war and later in the local emergency response squad in Avdon. The Izkor website records his reserve service in the Border Defense Corps. Accounts of David, together with his teachers’ and friends’ stories, also preserve his life beyond military service.

On 26 July 2024, David fell in the line of duty during the war, aged twenty-four. He held the rank of sergeant first class. He was laid to rest in the civilian cemetery in Meron and is survived by his parents and three siblings. The page created in his memory brings together photographs, words from his family and memories from friends and teachers, recalling his place among his friends and the bonds that continued after school and military service. May his memory be a blessing.

I am sorry your journey in this world was so short. I am sorry for us, that our world is less good without you.

צר לי על המסע הקצר שעשית בעולם הזה. צר לי עלינו שעולמנו פחות טוב בלעדייך.
