The story
Amir Masri was born on 13 January 1977 in Tuba, son of Khadra and Ibrahim and brother to nine siblings. He grew up in the village in the eastern Galilee and attended the local school. While still a teenager, he began working alongside his studies, including a long period with Metro Towing. The national memorial page describes his connection to those around him and the sensitivity he developed to the needs of others through family, community and working life.
Amir enlisted in the IDF and served in the infantry. As he advanced to command, he cared for his soldiers and their needs and would remain on base until the last soldier had finished his tasks. His friends remembered a commander with leadership ability and a friend they could rely on. After his discharge, he returned to live and work in Tuba. He married Wafa, and they had five children: Ahmad, Muhammad, Yusuf, Louis and Maria. His children would wait for him to return home so they could eat dinner with him, even when he came back late.
In his free time, Amir enjoyed swimming and playing football on the field opposite his home, a place he had known since childhood. He loved traveling with his family in Israel, especially in the north and the Golan Heights, and on weekends they also went kayaking on the Jordan River. Amir and Wafa wanted to buy a house in which to raise their children and planned to take them on a trip abroad. The memorial account also describes his willingness to help others: he listened to those who approached him and looked for a way to help even when he had no ready solution.
On 16 September 2024, Amir reported for reserve service in the infantry. He died during his service in the war on 4 Nisan 5785, 2 April 2025, at the age of forty-eight. After his death, he was promoted from corporal to sergeant. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Tuba and was survived by his wife, five children, parents and nine siblings. His name is also included in the Bedouin fallen soldiers' memorial of the Association for the Advancement of Bedouin Soldiers, alongside the date of his death and his resting place. May his memory be a blessing.
