The story

Alexander Westley Miller, known as Alex, was the son of Denise and Danny and grew up and went to school in Katzrin. In an interview with ynet, his father said that Alex was born in the United States and that, when he was five, they stayed in Israel following a family visit. Danny, who raised him alone, described his son as cheerful and humorous, polite and a friend always willing to help. Their bond was particularly close, and his father said he also regarded Alex as his best friend.

In November 2021, Alex enlisted in the IDF and served in the Shamshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade. Although he was his father's only son, he asked to serve as a combat soldier. In October 2022, he was moderately wounded in a car-ramming attack near the training compound at Nabi Musa. After his injury, he underwent rehabilitation and chose to return to his unit and serve alongside his friends. In his account to ynet, his father said that Alex fought in Gaza and Lebanon during the Swords of Iron War and continued from regular service into reserve service.

After his service, Alex stayed in the United States and worked in security. According to his father, he also studied information security. In a Walla article, people close to him described the pain he carried after his injury and the effect of the death of his close friend Noam Shemesh in the war. His father and family friend Uri Zecharia spoke of their concern for Alex and the difficulty of understanding the depth of his distress. Their words preserve the memory of their bond with him and the hopes he had as he looked toward building his life after the army.

Alex died in the United States on 6 Sivan 5786, May 22, 2026, aged twenty-three. After his death, the Katzrin Local Council announced that it would stand beside his father and family and support them. A Haredim 10 report described the work of ZAKA's international division, with assistance from people in Miami, to bring his coffin back to Israel. He was buried in the civilian cemetery in Katzrin. The state memorial website Izkor records his full name alongside his parents' names and describes the circumstances of his death as having died after completing his service. May his memory be a blessing.
