The story
Alexander Bondaryov was born in Kyrgyzstan on 16 Sivan 5754, 26 May 1994, the son of Natalia and Sergei and brother of Victoria, Michael, Denis and Maxim. At the age of two he immigrated to Israel with his family. He spent his childhood in Haifa and Tiberias, and later studied at Or Simcha in Kfar Chabad and at the Kadoorie Youth Village. Alongside his studies he trained in boxing and achieved success in competitions. He loved reading and learning, and at Kadoorie continued into technological studies, qualifying as a mechanical practical engineer.
In 2014 he enlisted in the IDF as a mechanic in the Technology and Maintenance Corps, and after compulsory service continued as a career soldier. His teachers remembered his technical abilities and willingness to help, and in the army he also worked with advanced technologies and took part in operational activity. Over his years of service he gained professional experience, and from the beginning of the war participated in operations on various fronts. Articles in his memory describe a dedicated career soldier who served for about a decade in a classified unit.
Alexander and Angelica married and made their home in Afula. They had two children, Liam and Elin, and he wanted to be more present in his family's life. As his discharge from the IDF approached, he completed a bomb disposal course and planned to join the police, so he could continue contributing while being closer to home. Angelica said that before leaving on his final journey, he made a video call, saw her and the children and wished them goodnight. In his free time he enjoyed reading, playing computer games and spending time with family and friends.
On 22 March 2026 he was on his way to operational activity in Lebanon. On Highway 6 he noticed two female soldiers whose car had broken down and stopped to help them. While assisting them, he was struck by a passing vehicle and died of his injuries. Master Sergeant Alexander Bondaryov was thirty-one and was laid to rest at the Afula military cemetery. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter, his parents, a sister and three brothers. His family commemorated his way of giving and his love for his family. May his memory be a blessing.
