The story
Adiso Waba, son of Aseres and Malka and brother of Demko, Avraham, Rachel and Eliya, was born in Ethiopia on 8 September 1999. He immigrated to Israel in 2000. He later lived in Ashdod, having previously lived in Gedera. His connection to his family and the communities where he lived also appeared in the reports published after his death: in Ashdod people accompanied him on his final journey, and in Gedera the school where his father works published a message of condolence to the family.
On 7 October 2023, Adiso reported for reserve duty and served in the infantry. He was a reserve combat soldier with the rank of master sergeant. According to the English-language report on the indictment filed following the accident, he was on his way home to the south after active reserve duty in the north. On 12 June 2026, 27 Sivan 5786, he was struck while riding a motorcycle on Route 6 near Yokneam. The national memorial page states that he died during his service in the war at the age of twenty-six.
Emergency teams who arrived at the scene found him with no pulse and not breathing. Resuscitation was attempted, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver suspected of striking him and abandoning him was later arrested. The indictment described in the media also accused the driver of setting fire to his car and falsely reporting that it had been stolen. The reports covered a road accident and its investigation, and the news of his death also reached members of the communities who knew Adiso and his family.
Adiso was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Ashdod. According to the report from Gedera, hundreds of relatives, fellow soldiers, acquaintances and residents attended his funeral. Netivei Noam School, where his father Malka works, expressed sorrow at the son's death in the accident. Attorney Aychelotem Masala also published condolences to the family, recalling that Adiso had left for reserve duty and never returned home. He was survived by his parents and siblings. May his memory be a blessing.
